1. Nature of Agency
Except as otherwise specifically agreed, J & J MEAT WAREHOUSE INC. acts as a forwarding agent only. We're responsible for selecting carriers and routes with reasonable care. We don't own every vessel or truck—we own the responsibility for the coordination and safe passage of your goods.
Why do we emphasize agency? Because it clarifies that your contract for carriage is with the transporter, while we manage the execution and logistics overhead.
2. Cargo Valuation & Insurance
Don't assume your freight is fully insured. Unless you provide a written declaration of value and pay the required premium, our liability for loss or damage is strictly limited by industry-standard freight transportation regulations. We strongly recommend all clients secure independent cargo insurance for high-value transits.
3. Storage & Warehousing Protocols
At our 245 East Tremont Avenue facility, goods are stored subject to our lien. Any freight not cleared within 30 days of the agreed arrival date may be moved to secondary storage at the owner's expense. We're proud of our Bronx hub's security, but operational flow depends on timely movement.
